According to reports, Google India has fired 450 employees fired in India from several departments. Workers were told of their dismissal by mail.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed that the company employed during “periods of considerable expansion” in the prior two years, claiming that this was due to “various economic realities than the one we face today.” According to him, the layoffs are the consequence of a “rigorous examination” of Google’s product divisions and operations. Pichai, CEO of Google, stated in an email to staff. “The fact that these changes will influence the lives of Googlers weighs deeply on me, The accountability for the deeds that brought us here”, he said.

According to CNBC TV18, staff who did straight-line reports or did not even have direct managers were let go.

While the corporation has not yet commented on the layoffs, the fired employees took to social media to announce their dismissal. Kamal Dave, an account manager at Google’s Gurugram, Haryana headquarters, is one such employee.
